Kotobukiya – 1/12 Mahoro Sports Bike
By: quadrain | July 31, 2007 on 4:26 pm | Category: Figures | 1 CommentAt Otakon this year I browsed the dealer’s room for anything interesting at the same time price checking, because we all know the dealers at cons overcharge their products. One dealer I came across (forgot who) priced half of their merchandise competitively and the rest, well overcharged; however, their Mahoromatic sports bike caught my eye and said to my friend and said, “It’s probably overcharged.” When I picked it up and saw the price tag, I was really amazed with the $75 price tag, because it’s 8,500¥ plus over in Japan (about $71). Of course the reason why I said it was a good deal was because I usually add on estimated shipping costs on top of the price (ranging from $10-$20).
This figure was released some time ago as a garage kit where the end user would have to paint and put together; however, this version is pre-painted and people would just have to assemble it. I was really surprised when I opened the box and started to put it together. I have never seen garage kit in person so it was quite a surprise to see the panels were actually pre-painted diecast metal, while the rest of the bike is plastic.

You Have Got to be Kidding Me
By: quadrain | July 27, 2007 on 8:14 pm | Category: Uncategorized | No CommentsFox 11 have now proven they have failed on being a news caster. Anonymous can be anyone on the internet posting on the public “secret website” in topics related to non-terrorist threads. Funny the silhouette hacker looks a lot like that fag complaining to be harassed. He definitely pissed in an ocean of piss, so did Fox 11.
According to another Anonymous, the guy wanted Anonymous to invade and mess with his girlfriend for some odd reason. Anonymous did not want to do that and therefore, the guy in the Fox 11 clip tried to fight back against Anonymous; however, that ended up him “Pissing in an ocean of Piss.”

Ota 2007 kon
By: cosplayerkyo | July 24, 2007 on 6:21 pm | Category: Events | No CommentsFor those who have never attended Otakon in Baltimore before, you really need to owe yourself a trip to this convention. With over thousands of attendees, the sheer number of fans and cosplayers will amaze you. The size does not match Anime Expo (in California) but Otakon is a sight to believe.
Taking place once again at the Baltimore Convention Center, public transportation is very convenient. There are a lot of parking spaces nearby and many hotels to choose from. When it comes to hotels, if you don’t book months ahead, will all be sold out. The best advice is to not wander out of the city. There are a lot of homeless people (who also tend to do things they shouldn’t be doing in public) around Baltimore take caution. The harbor right outside of the convention center allows a great place for photoshoots and many places to eat
2007 followed the path of everyone flocking in Thursday to begin the non-stop obsession of Japan anime and video games. This year was an interesting challenge for the convention as the date was pushed up to an earlier time then usual. Being close to the date of Anime Expo (another gigantic anime convention located in California), con attendees came to the difficult decisions of either going to one or the other. Perhaps this move was done to avoid 2006’s fiasco of being next to one of the biggest baseball games. After all, drunken baseball fans harassing several people last year wasn’t a very positive note.
Cosplayers galore, massive gaming room, gigantic dealers room, and just so many people having a great time. Yet for some reason, Friday seemed rather empty for a con of this size. Another interesting touch was that there were guards at every entrance checking for badges. Certainly not a negative thing but quite different… Luckily Saturday picked up and the con was swarmed. The lines for the dealers room, the masquerade, and the 4chan panel took hours of waiting.
There were a few disappointments with this convention however. The masquerade this year was just full of musicals. Like, almost every other skit was a musical. And when you’re sitting and watching almost 50 skits, the skits felt repetitive. Friday lacked a giant crowd, and in a location this big, it made the con look rather empty and not full of life. Then there’s the rave…
Music for the rave? Excellent. Glowsticks and ravers? Ready and armed. Cool and dark room? NEGATIVE. The main room for Otakon is very bright and as fun as it is watching the breakdancers show off their talents, it’s hard to rave with the lights shining so bright! There are two smaller rooms off to the side which are very dark and they also host their own great music. But get anywhere close, and the con odor will literally, blast you away. Such a shame that it’s like this every year… For such a great con, a gigantic fun rave would be so fitting.
Minor things aside, Otakon is a convention that’s well worth attending every year and shouldn’t be missed
