Idom@ster for Playstation Portable (PSP)
By: quadrain | July 26, 2008 on 9:31 am | Category: Media | No CommentsScrewed asian is screwed with the title. Sometime this winter, The Idolm@ster SP for the PSP will come in three games and from it looks like on idolmaster.jp: Makoto, Haruka, Yayoi will appear in Perfect Sun; Azusa, Chihaya, and Ritsuko in Missing Moon; Iori, Yukhio, and the Futami Twins in Wandering Star. (Source: Famitsu)
Idolm@ster is an Idol simulater with the protagonist (player) interacts with idol(s) from checking their mail to getting them prepped auditions to gain popularity. Many of the high points in the game is to be with the character almost every step of the way, helping them with their morale, dances, singing, etc. The game is so interactive, you can even decide what the character wears during performances from the very cute to the most “WTF?” Nothing wrong with some Jpop and Idols, right? (especially now that it’ll be portable)
One major plus for the port (from what it looks like, it’s a direct port), that the PSP games are region free. This makes it so a person in the states have to fly over to Japan to play the actual arcade or buy a Japanese Xbox 360.
Will the Sony PSP sales actually over take the Nintendo DS? Even if it’s just for one day? Oh wait it already has.
More Otakon Updates
By: quadrain | July 24, 2008 on 11:56 am | Category: Events | No CommentsAn immediate press release just came into the inbox, so from Otakon’s words, word-by-word here it is,
Baltimore, USA (24 July 2008) – Otakon is pleased to welcome one of the most popular rising stars of the J-music world, DaizyStripper! YU-GIRI provides the explosive vocals, backed by wild guitars from MAYU and NAO. The heartbeat of the group is REI’s steady bass guitar and KAZAMI’s energetic drumbeats and intricate piano melodies. The group has consistently sold out shows throughout Japan, and their first single “Dandelion” skyrocketed to #1 on the Oricon Indies chart.
The band performed a critically-acclaimed show at the “hide Memorial Summit” this past May, and on June 6 performed in Shibuya to a standing-room-only crowd. Although the group’s roots are in visual kei, it has evolved into a musical powerhouse taking Tokyo by storm! Currently, the band is working on their new single, scheduled to be released in October.
Strike Witches
By: quadrain | July 22, 2008 on 8:00 pm | Category: Media | No CommentsI started to watch Strike Witches over the last week or so (between study breask) because of a small conversation.
1:58:38 PM Quadrain: how bad is Strike Witches?
1:59:13 PM Name Hidden : bad enough i’m not going to ever watch it ![]()
1:59:22 PM Quadrain: Alright!
1:59:27 PM Quadrain: time to download it
1:59:43 PM Name Hidden :
After downloading it and watching the first two episodes, I like the story. Sure it reminds me of Sky Girls, maybe because the character design is made by the same person, but after looking past all the Gonzo stuff (Panties, lolis, fanservice, etc.) the story actually comes together. It wasn’t like Idolm@ster Xenoglossia where you look at it and say, “This should’ve stayed in Doujinshis.”
For the summary, the story takes part in a universe similar to planet earth with a little bit of World War I and II. Some alien comes down from no where and starts attacking what represets Europe. The father of the protagonist of the story found a way to defeat the Neouri by using a device worn around the leges of the witches and along with their magical power. Each of the assigned “brooms” and weapons used by the witches are modeled after verious World War II weapons. The “witches” are females from around the world (ages 13-19) gathered at the 501st Strike Witches base to defeat the alien. The countries the girls are from are of the countries of that world is similar to our earth with Britannia (Britain), Liberion (United States), Fuso (Japan), Karlsland (Nazi Germany), Orussia (Soviet Union), and Romagna (Italy), being the main characters for the first few episodes.
Otakon 2008 Guest Update
By: quadrain | July 9, 2008 on 3:25 pm | Category: Events | 1 CommentApparently Otkaon 2008 will have Kazuko Tadano and Hiromi Matsuhita on their GoH list.
A little something from Otakon:
Joining us for their first visit to the land of blue crabs and otaku is the husband-and-wife team of Kazuko Tadano and Hiromi Matsushita. They are known primarily for their work on Sailor Moon, which remains a touchstone for anime fans in Japan and the US alike, with broad mainstream appeal. But their resumes read like a hit parade of classic shows.
Kazuko Tadano designed the characters for the Sailor Moon anime, drawing on creator Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga. Tadano also served as animation director and project manager for the series at various points. She got her start working as an animator on City Hunter, but it was as character designer and sometimes director for the long-running Sailor Moon and its various spinoffs that she really hit her stride. She also served as animation director for Wedding Peach, and more recently was character designer for Puchi puri Yuushi.
Hiromi Matsushita got his start as an animator on the beloved classic series Astroboy. Matsushita has a wide variety of animation credits to his name, having worked on such iconic hit shows as Project A-Ko, City Hunter, and Dragonball Z. As animation director for several episodes of Sailor Moon, including the first one, he helped set the tone for the series. These days he’s the animation director on Keroro Gunsō (Sgt Frog).
Otakon will be over run with all the classic Otakus that weekend.
